Summer Immersion Camp 2021

Dates: June 21-25, June 28-July 2, July 5-9, July 12-16, July 19-23

Time/Agenda: 10 am - 2 pm, Mon-Fri

Price: FREE 

Who can participate: incoming 6th - 8th graders

Tentative Schedule: 

  • 10-10:30- Review of questions from the previous day and giving answers to lab questions that were assigned for hw
  • 10:30-10:45- Break
  • 10:45-11:45- Experiment 
  • 11:45-12:45- Lunch
  • 12:45-1:30- Review for experiment
  • 1:30-2- Game time, closing, and assigning 5 question homework 


This summer, Students in Medicine is hosting a FREE VIRTUAL SUMMER IMMERSION CAMP for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. In this camp, students will be able to engage in at-home science experiments and various interactive activities relating to science, medicine, and anatomy. It offers students an amazing opportunity to do something educational over the summer, explore their interests in the medical field, and meet new friends!


At the start of the camp students will receive a science journal which will contain experiment instructions, list of materials, key takeaways from the class, and questions to answer about thee material learned in class. Students will learn how to properly form and conduct experiments, the science behind each of these expeirents, and important skills such as organization, analysis, independence, and interaction. Upon completing this camp, participants will be able to earn a personalized certificate from Students in Medicine.


Students may register for ONE of the following weeks. This camp allows students on a first-come-first-serve basis. Once the camp is full registration for that week will be closed on the form, you may choose to register for another week. The Friday before the start date there will be an optional Q&A for parents to stop by and learn more about what will be covered day by day in the camp as well as parent/student expectations regarding the camp. Registration for students will be open on June 7th, 2021 at 12 pm PST. 

Instructor Application

This summer, Students in Medicine is hosting a FREE VIRTUAL SUMMER IMMERSION CAMP for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. In this camp, we hope to have students in grades 10th and above (in the 2021-2022 school year) to volunteer to be instructors for this camp. This is a great opportunity for students interested in earning volunteer hours and showing leadership on their resume. 


Instructors may choose week(s) they would like to teach: 

  • June 21-25, June 28-July 2, July 5-9, July 12-16, July 19-23


  • Teacher Expectations
    • Instructors will receive access to all presentation materials and answers to journals prior to the camp in order for them to properly instruct their students. 
    • Students will be required to fill out their journals during the class period with content such as a Hypothesis, Conclusion, Observation, etc. Instructors will be required to glance over students' work in order to ensure that students are following instructions and properly completing their material 
    • Instructors will also be required to check completion of students' five question homework 
    • During the class period, instructors will guide students through the experiment, the science behind the experiment, as well as a daily game (all content and instructions will be provided) 
  • Volunteer Hours
    • Earn 4 volunteer hours per day, total of 16 per week 
    • Earn an additional 4-5 hours for attending the training period
